Cultural trips in summer
Summer at IH Berlin Prolog - that doesn’t just mean an ideal season for learning German. It also means the best season to get to know Berlin and all its facets. Our cultural programme includes a whole range of opportunities to discover the capital and beyond.
When students take part in one of our teacher-accompanied trips, they will learn a lot of interesting things about German history, which can be found everywhere, but especially in Berlin. To name just a few examples: the Berlin Wall (•East Side Gallery), the •Jewish Museum, the city’s oldest church (Nikolaikirche, pictured here), Europe’s largest rear courtyard complex (•Hackesche Höfe), the Reichstag, the Brandenburger Tor, the Holocaust memorial, the architectural wonder Potsdamer Platz, •old bunker installations that document the Cold War. Students get to take a look at a former GDR prison and we’ll drive out to the former concentration camp Sachsenhausen.
We’ll also take some walks around the city and give the students some insider tips, where they can discover East Berlin with its ever-developing districts and also about the immediate neighbourhood around PROLOG. Or maybe they’d like to visit the freshly renovated •Wannsee beach area (pictured here) or take a canoe out onto the Havel river.
Art lovers will also have plenty to do. For example: the Alte and •Neue Nationalgalerie and the current exhibitions in the •Martin-Gropius-Bau are also part of our programme.
Furthermore, the students have the chance to visit other German cities along with an expert guide: •Dresden, idylic •Rheinsberg and Neuruppin, •Leipzig, Rostock and •Warnemünde (a day on the sea), •Potsdam by bike, •Lutherstadt Wittenberg and •Dessau.
Off we go, we’re looking forward to showing your students Berlin and Germany!
