Get to know PROLOG - Dieter

DieterI began working at IH Berlin PROLOG in 2004 as the school was looking for German teachers to manage the summer rush of language-loving Berlin fans. While I was studying in Stuttgart, I had already taught as a German teacher for many years. What I liked about PROLOG were the many possibilities on offer to develop my skills as a teacher. Not to be taken for granted are the friendly, always helpful fellow teachers and a professionally-led department with all the resources necessary. Furthermore, I also appreciate the opportunities to improve my qualifications through internal seminars and within the framework of a very intensive teacher training programme.

After having successfully completed a course to become a teacher trainer, I am now currently working as the deputy head of the German teacher training department. I find working as a trainer and lecturer in the teacher training programme exciting and challenging – though I do sometimes miss not having enough time to regularly teach students.

I love the countryside around Berlin with its many lakes, canals and often empty hiking trails. As the area around Berlin is so flat, I am often drawn to the heights and mountains to have a change of scenery. When I am not translating into Italian or being active in Berlin’s local politics, I can always be talked into a visit to the cinema, theatre or a concert.
