Getting Better All the Time - Inhouse Training
There are a number of factors that set IH Berlin PROLOG apart from other language schools - our offer of language classes in 16 different languages; our student accommodation with local hosts; our location near the heart of Berlin; our multi-facetted culture programme for visiting students; and our teacher training courses. All of these taken together guarantee that life at the school is always interesting, varied and rewarding – for our learners, and also for our teachers and trainers.
Something we're really proud of at IH Berlin is our committment to the further training and professional development of our language teachers, a committment which is reflected in the large number of teachers who take part in our extracurricular workshops, seminars and courses.
We run four training sessions per month, two in German and two in English, for our teachers. These workshops and seminars are run by experienced teacher trainers and by teachers with expertise in particular fields. Examples of recent topics include phonology, free speaking activities, lexis and using video in the classroom. The topics are chosen based on the feedback we get from our learners, surveys of our teachers to find out what support they feel they need and feedback from our teacher trainers, who regularly observe lessons at the school.
We are sure that not only does this continuous training improve the quality of the language teaching taking place at the school, it also ensures that IH Berlin PROLOG's language teachers know how much we, and our students, value their teaching skills and desire to constantly improve.
