IHWO’s New First Lady
It seems that 2009 has a little of the “out with the old and in with the new” about it! It’s not just the USA that has a new commander in chief – •International House World Organisation also has a new face at the top: Lucy Horsefield. This is where the parallel with the United States ends though, as Michael Carrier, the Chief Executive Officer of IHWO for the last eight years, continues to be held in the highest regard by everyone within the International House network (unlike some leaders of the free world who shall not be mentioned here!).
Michael’s successor, Lucy Horsefield, took up her new role as Chief Operations Officer on January 1st, stepping up from her previous role as Head of HR and Quality Management at IHWO. A number of external and internal candidates were interviewed for the position and Lucy was chosen not only because of the extensive knowledge of IH she already has, but more because of her clear vision of the way forward for IHWO. As the selection committee commented, “We are confident that Lucy’s determination, commitment and excellent interpersonal skills will ensure that IHWO continues to consolidate and extend its current strengths and opens up new pathways for the future.”
We are sure that everyone who knew Michael Carrier in his role as CEO of International House World Organisation will join us in wishing him all the best in his new role with the British Council and will join us in greeting Lucy Horsefield in her new role - and in extending our warmest wishes to Lucy for a productive and successful 2009 and beyond!
