New German Tests
In May this year, IH Berlin PROLOG became an authorised testing centre for TestDaF, a language assessment which is required by German universities as proof of sufficient language ability for studying in Germany.
From 19.11.09 to 21.11.09, a seminar for authorised TestDaF examiners took place in Bonn, where two examinations were presented that IH Berlin PROLOG will offer for the first time from 2010.
The onDaF is an online placement test for German as a Foreign Language, and will be available at selected testing centres. In eight, short, authentic texts, 20 gaps are created by systematic deletion of words and parts of words. Participants are required to fill in the gaps in each text.
The test results are recorded as a total of points and as a reflection of the levels A2 to C1 according to the •Common European Framework of Reference for Languages set out by the European Commission in a language certificate.
The onDaF enables language schools and universities to accurately place students according to their language abilities and provides a language assessment tool for applicants for study grants, such as the DAAD Scholarship.

The TestAS is a central, standardized test to assess the suitability of foreign students for German university places. With their TestAS results, candidates can see how they compare to other foreign applicants and may even be able to improve their chances of being accepted at a German university if their test results are good. In many respects the test is structured like an intelligence test and can even be taken at a lower language level (A2).

24 April 2010, registration period: 01 February to 19 March 2010
30 October 2010, registration period: 09 August to 24 September 2010
